Evidence of Near Death Experiences help me feel less overwhelmed

One summer up in Deep Creek, MD, I had told my husband and my kids that I needed an hour to just journal and organize all the thoughts in my head. I was feeling overwhelmed and anxious and just needed a moment.

So while he and the kids played putt-putt and lined up to ride go-karts, I was just getting settled with my journal to start thinking, writing, and probably over-analyzing my life.

An older man in a pick-up truck pulls up next to me (the parking lot with pretty empty so I'm like why is this guy parking right next to me?) and he rolls down his window. So I do the same. And he yells over at me "Can you get out? Do I need to move my truck?"

I give him a smile and say "Oh I'm good! I'm just hanging out in the car and I have enough room to open my door to get out. Thanks for checking!"

I honestly don't even remember how we started talking but for the next hour he and I sat and talked through our car windows about stuff!

His wife had Alzheimer's and he told me about their journey with the disease, I told him my struggles in my job and wondering if I was living in alignment with my purpose, and then he started talking about near death experiences (NDE).

He reminded me that this pysical portion of our lives on Earth is just a small part of something bigger. Something beyond. Something we cannot even comprehend.

Then he threw me a book (yeah, tossed it over through the window!).

After by Bruce Greyson is an evidence-based exploration documenting NDEs and it reminded me that THIS (the complicated physical world that we live in) is not our whole life.

It made me feel less overwhelmed with the expectations and responsibilities that our society puts on me... and that I put on myself!

I planned on journaling by myself immersed in my thoughts... but I'm grateful that I was "interrupted" by this stranger who reminded me that this physical life is not all there is. It really takes the pressure off!

With love,

Ming-Wai
