The Tool: bagby alarm clock
(ming-cee's review)
Explain the challenge the tool was used to assist you with:I am working on improving my sleep quality, maintaining my energy levels, regulating my nervous system, and managing distractions to stay focused on myself.
In what ways did this tool aid your progress or enhance your efforts in addressing your challenge?: Although it may not appear to be a major change, removing my phone from my room, particularly from my nightstand, has profoundly impacted my life. This adjustment has greatly improved my personal development, especially in terms of my morning routines, my initial mood that affects the rest of my day, and reducing distractions. It has served as an excellent foundational tool to build upon.
While using this tool, did you encounter anything unexpected (neither good nor bad)?:

When I bought my first alarm clock, I prioritized its appearance over functionality. I soon realized that the volume of the alarm is important to me, as I dislike being abruptly woken up, especially when I struggle to get a good night's sleep. For over a year, I kept an alarm clock on my nightstand while still charging my phone next to my bed. After discovering Bagby, which designs alarm clocks with these considerations in mind. But the biggest surprise was how long I held on to a tool that didn't work, and how quickly I fell back into an old habit while trying to create a new one. Change is hard, and sometimes it's messy and makes no sense to anyone else, but it's still steps in the right direction.
*I should mention that I currently have young children who don't have phones and are already in bed when I go to sleep. I anticipate that when they become driving teenagers, I will need to adjust this approach to suit my changing priorities. But for now, it works.
Which step(s) did this tool assist you with?:
foundation steps
slow down + make space
step 7: effort + goals
step 10: maintain + preserve

This tool was beneficial. I would like to explore more tools like this.
