Last week, we focused on how to interpret external signs you were receiving (like the wild turkey that flew in front of my windshield). Click HERE to read about that.

This week, we focus on how to interpret internal signs. These are the subtle signs that we feel in our bodies and our intuition. I call this "body wisdom."

Here's a hard truth about body wisdom... most of us dismiss these valuable internal signs.

And it's not our fault.

We've been conditioned to take a pill to solve our problems. We are told that our chronic discomfort is "all in our mind." We push through the pain because getting stuff done is valued more than healing our bodies.

So if you're feeling called to develop the skill of listening and responding to your body wisdom, here are a few tools to integrate into your routine...

  1. Decrease Distraction

If we are in a headspace of overwhelming to-do lists, reacting to push notifications, and getting all worked up over the news... we are too distracted to feel our bodies. There's no easy way around it - sorry!

Quick ways to decrease distraction and get more mental real estate:

    - Turn off push notifications on your phone

    - Sleep with your phone outside of your bedroom

    - Drive in silence without listening to the radio, podcasts, or music (it's too bad we can't mute the kids LOL)

If you do these 3 things for 2 weeks, you will probably notice you'll sleep better, concentrate better, and feel better. (And if you don't feel better, let me know!!! Let's find solutions that work for you, okay?)

  2. Practice Mindfulness

I'm using mindfulness as a broad term to mean... find a practice to get you out of your head and into your body.

Try our ming+ming classes which are specifically created to tap into your body wisdom. They are designed to be convenient, accessible for all levels, and efficient when you don't have a lot of time to squeeze in self-care. Email me to try our classes for free.

    Other really good options are:

    - 15-minute meditations - I teach on Fridays at noon eastern!

    - Yoga (I've had good experiences with donation-based online yoga on insight timer)

    - Breathwork (Free weekly online breathwork highly recommended by our friend Greg, who is part of our wonderful ming+ming community!)

If you have a mindfulness practice that you love, PLEASE share in the comments! I'm always interested in trying and sharing new tools.

  3. Trusted Books and Resources

Finding your go-to books and resources is a very personal quest. I love getting recommendations from friends but I've also gotten some good books and resources by just scrolling on Amazon and intuitively finding something based on reviews.

Have fun exploring and discovering what resonates with you! And if you have any recommendations for me, PLEASE put them in the comments below. I am always down to explore new resources!

Books that have really resonated with me include:

    - You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay - It's got a handy dandy index of common ailments, energetic blocks that may cause them, and affirmations to work with.

    - The Body Keeps the Score by Bessel van der Kolk M.D. - This book explains how trauma literally reshapes the body and the brain. The stories shared can be triggering so just know that if you're working through trauma and skip those sections if it's too much.

    - Anatomy of the Spirit by Caroline Myss - This was written by a medical intuitive and she works through each of the 7 chakras in detail to explain energetic blocks and how to clear them.

PLEASE add your recommendations and tools to the comments. Would LOVE to hear from you!

With love,

Ming-Wai
