faster, harder, stronger, longer

These have been the words that have subconsciously taken over our thoughts over the years. But how did it get that way? We have been bombarded most our lives with images and messages that make us believe the only way to be successful it to never stop #sidehustle. It’s not enough that we have lives where our careers define our egos, our possessions define our worth, and our family pictures define our happy home life. The normal day-to-day hustle is not enough, we need to tack on a side hustle as well.

When we are forced to hit the pause button (social distancing for a few months did the trick for us), we realize that prioritizing the image of “success” does not always translate to happiness or feeling at ease. Quite the opposite actually. We are constantly reacting vs. responding to the world around us. “But that’s the world we live in,” you may say. Well let us tell you, it does not have to be the case!

Meditation is a widely accepted practice that can decrease stress and reduce symptoms associated with depression, anxiety, pain, and insomnia, to name a few. Humans have been meditating for thousands of years and modern science has just started showing tangible, physical benefits to this time-tested practice. So why don't we do it more? Because meditation is hard work!
