The book Breath, the new science of a lost art by James Nestor gave me a deeper understanding of why and how we humans breathe using science and history. It’s an easy and entertaining read presented in a journalistic style. It provided me with the shift I needed to want to work on my breath vs. having to work on my breath. When I fall back into old patterns and feel lost on where to start again, I now go to my breath. The perfect breath is 5.5 seconds in and 5.5 seconds out. It's my reset button.
